Look closer and a lot of that crowd is listings from elsewhere in the county, pulled in to fill the page. Once you filter to genuinely small studios that are actually out this way, the supply is thinner than it first appears.

Why the search results mislead

Map-based search shows you everything within a wide radius, and a wide radius around North County reaches well into Downtown San Diego. A studio that's technically "near" you can still be a long drive on a shoot morning, which matters when you're hauling lights, a backdrop, or a cart of products.

A few filters cut through it quickly:

• Real size. Most solo photographers, UGC creators, and small crews need somewhere in the 300 to 700 square foot range. A listing that doesn't state its size is hard to plan around.
